FAQs
What types of projects do you take on? We specialize in custom homes, small-scale multifamily housing, and creative uses of space that respond to their context. Our focus is on projects where design plays a meaningful role, where we can think critically about how people live, work, and gather. If you’re not sure whether your project is the right fit, reach out. We’re always happy to chat and explore possibilities.
Where do you work? Most of our work is based in Calgary and the Bow Valley, but we love working in new places. So far, we’ve completed projects in seven provinces, two states, and three countries. We’re drawn to projects that engage with the landscape and local character, whether that’s in an urban core or a remote setting. Travel can be an inspiring part of the process, but we also take great pride in contributing to the places we call home.
Do you work with existing buildings or just new construction? Both. We love designing new buildings, but we’re equally excited by the challenge of working with what already exists. Whether it’s an adaptive reuse project, a sensitive renovation, or a thoughtful addition, we believe that working with existing structures can add richness, history, and unexpected possibilities to a project.
Do you design and build? We focus on design because that’s where we can bring the most value. That said, our background in building means we think like builders when we design. We understand materials, detailing, and costs in a way that makes our designs more grounded and buildable. We also love collaborating with skilled makers, trades, and construction teams to bring a vision to life.
Can you help with permitting and approvals? Yes, but only for projects where we lead the design. Navigating permits and approvals is an important part of getting a project built, and we integrate it into our process as needed. While we’re not permit consultants, we know the process well and can help ensure everything moves smoothly within the broader framework of design and construction.
